Once Karen Kaiser thought she would pursue a career in the banking world, working as a financial analyst. But her love of the law and her strong interest in news brought her down a different path. After cutting her teeth at Cahill Gordon & Reindel, working with top First Amendment attorneys, Kaiser charted a course as an in-house lawyer in media companies, starting with Tribune Media. Next came The Associated Press (AP), where she was named general counsel last year.As media consumption habits change rapidly, Kaiser and her team strive to keep up with advancements in technology and the law, while working to maintain the tenants of an organization with roots stretching back nearly 170 years. She spoke to senior editor Rich Steeves.
