We at Corporate Counsel don’t have a monopoly on giving kudos to good lawyers when we see them. Inhousecommunity.it, an Italian website aimed at in-house lawyers, which started up this year as an offshoot of legalcommunity.it, has named its general counsel of the year. Along with that award, the site gave awards to both GCs and legal departments in various industries.
And the big honors go to Eni S.p.A., Italy’s giant oil company. Its 300-lawyer team is one of the largest in the country, and probably the entire European Union. And it serves as a talent incubator, too, much like the legal department of General Electric Co. The single lawyer honor goes to Google Inc.’s local in-house talent Marilù Capparelli, an expert in intellectual property. She was recently promoted to being a regional legal director of Emea (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa).
