Cross-border merger and acquisition deals are going strong this year, according to a new report out today by Baker & McKenzie. The law firm says that overall deal activity to date is at a cool $2.91 trillion, well ahead of last year’s pace and cross-border activity is up 10 percent by deal value over the same period last year, coming in so far at $375 billion and 1,230 deals.
“Improving economic indicators in the U.S., easing concerns in the E.U. and emerging opportunities in Asia Pacific should continue to spur cross-border activity, particularly so-called ‘mega deals,’” said Michael DeFranco, global head of M&A at Baker & McKenzie, in prepared remarks.
