The practice of law is pretty inefficient. Most in-house lawyers would agree to this. It feels like we waste a lot of time, but while lawyers are willing to say this, it’s hard for us to put a finger on exactly what tasks we could stop doing in order to be more efficient.

Rest assured, there is an answer: less work and more planning. Some lawyers have made major progress on efficiency by investing time in planning processes in greater detail. The goal is to ensure that they have as little repetition and unnecessary overlap as possible.
