Security professionals, attorneys and others concerned with keeping companies safe from cyberincursions are gathering this week in New York City to talk about issues fundamental to preventing and managing data breaches. The event, cyberSecure, run by Corporate Counsel parent company ALM, features panel discussions with speakers who have been involved in the cybersecurity field for some time. In fact, they were in the field before protecting networks from invaders became the subject of headlines and general counsel nightmares.

This knowledge about how companies have prepared in the past was a useful tool as panelists gave advice about how to plan for a safer future. One panel held on Tuesday, “From Reactive to Resilient Cybersecurity: Building Intelligence-Led Security Programs and Leveraging Models for Enterprise Risk Evaluation, Mitigation and Transfer,” highlighted how companies have to take a more proactive and forward-thinking attitude than they used to in order to survive today’s cyberthreat landscape.
