Your employee is out on Family and Medical Leave Act. Does he or she still get an invite to the company’s holiday shindig? It’s a question recently posed on the blog of Jeff Nowak of Franczek Radelet.

“Some might argue that allowing employees on FMLA leave to attend sends the wrong message to the employee’s co-workers,” explains Nowak. Opponents of the suggestion say it can demonstrate to staff that it’s OK to take time off and still party.
