Is this an advertisement or editorial content? If visitors to your company’s website aren’t sure, the Federal Trade Commission released an enforcement policy statement Tuesday that will attempt to clear that up.

The Enforcement Policy Statement on Deceptively Formatted Advertisements outlines what might be considered deceptive within native advertising and “affirms the long-standing consumer protection principle that advertisements and promotional messages that promote the benefits and attributes of goods and services should be identifiable to consumers,” according to the FTC’s announcement.
