As the recent mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, highlights, it’s an unfortunate reality that modern workplaces need strong security measures to protect employees. In fact, it’s the law in California that employers provide a safe workplace, according to Melanie Chaney of Liebert Cassidy Whitmore, in this recent blog post. Here are some steps she advises for ensuring the safety of your staff:
• Prevention: Tell employees that management is committed to their safety and violence won’t be tolerated. “All threats, whether idle or serious, should be taken seriously and investigated,” says Chaney.
