Pay-per-mile car insurance provider Metromile has named John Orta as its first-ever general counsel. Orta took over this month after serving as the senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of OpenTable Inc., where he worked since 2006.
Orta will oversee legal, human resources and recruiting for the Bay Area startup that was founded in 2011. There, he will work with one other attorney who focuses on insurance regulatory matters.
