The rise of big data can mean big headaches for companies. According to a new report by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, its use by human resource departments can open companies up to employment discrimination claims.

“While the report’s focus is on the commercial use of big data involving consumer data, it also describes a number of issues raised when big data is employed in the workplace,” Joseph Lazzarotti of Jackson Lewis wrote in a blog post.
