General Motors Co. and two major dealerships Thursday agreed to settle Federal Trade Commission complaints accusing them of touting their used-car inspections while failing to disclose that some cars were subject to open recalls to repair serious defects.
The separate complaints alleged deceptive acts or practices. They said the undisclosed defects included the GM ignition switch flaw responsible for more than 100 deaths and many more serious injuries. All three companies neither admitted nor denied the allegations.
