Aiming to combat pay discrimination, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission proposed Friday a revision to the Employer Information Report, or the EEO-1, requiring employers with more than 100 employees to collect and disclose pay data. President Barack Obama announced the changes in a speech on the seventh anniversary of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, his first bill signed into law.

Employers have long been required to disclose diversity statistics in their EEO-1s. Under the new reporting requirements, companies would also be required to disclose aggregate data on pay ranges and hours worked. The data would be grouped into 12 salary ranges in an effort to protect privacy.
