M&A deals surged in 2015, with deal volume breaking $5 trillion for the first time. Could 2016 top that? In a recent report, “M&A Outlook 2016,” Raconteur predicts that “2016 looks set to continue the upward trend.” Here are five sectors the British publishing house says could explode this year (hat tip to Norton Rose Fulbright’s Victoria Riley, who blogged about Racounter’s post here):
• Financial services. “Consolidation is a buzzword that peppers most conversations about the future growth and long-term strategy of the global financial services sector,” according to Raconteur. The current economic volatility means wealth management groups, asset managers and nonbank lenders alike are looking for scale and growth.
