Alternative staffing is effective and underused in legal departments across the nation, according to a survey of in-house lawyers conducted by UnitedLex, an alternative staffing provider, and ALM Legal Intelligence, a division of Corporate Counsel’s parent company ALM Media.

The survey, based on interviews with 155 senior in-house lawyers, concluded that “alternative staffing is viewed as a highly effective tool in every type of work.” Ninety percent of respondents said that alternative staffing is effective for managing intellectual property, 83 percent said it’s effective for legal research, and 76 percent said it’s effective for regulatory filings.
