Be warned, financial services companies: there’s a new cybersecurity enforcer on the block.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced on Wednesday that it will fine online payment platform Dwolla Inc. $100,000 for deceiving customers about steps it takes to keep their data safe. By taking its first-ever legal action against a company over data security, the CFPB joins a growing number of government agencies holding regulated entities accountable in this area.
