Employers confused about the legal rights of their transgender employees may want to read a guidance document published last month by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing. The one-page document addresses some frequently asked questions raised by employers across the country.

The DFEH guidelines deal with fair and nondiscriminatory treatment of transgender workers during the hiring process as well as after they have been brought on board.
