Data analytics company Lex Machina published its annual year in review on patent litigation on Tuesday, confirming that 2015 saw a near-record number of patent cases filed in district courts, with more than 43 percent of those filed in the Eastern District of Texas.
While patent attorneys may already be aware of these findings, the data also reveals new information that can prove useful to companies and their attorneys. For example, the data shows the amount of time on average it takes different districts to get to trial, how different districts treat various motions, and which companies faced the most patent litigation.
