Caseloads in the federal courts decreased in fiscal year 2015, according to a new report released Tuesday by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.

According to the report, the 2015 Judicial Business of the U.S. Courts, there were 279,036 civil cases filed in FY 2015, a 6 percent decrease. The regional appeals courts saw a 4 percent decrease to 52,698 filings. And petitions in the bankruptcy courts were down 11 percent.
