The New York Stock Exchange announced this week that it’s hired Anthony Albanese to be its new chief regulatory officer.

Albanese left as acting superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services at the end of 2015, just six months after replacing the former superintendent Benjamin Lawsky. Before his stint at the regulator, Albanese was a partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where he was a partner in the securities litigation group and represented private equity firm Thomas H. Lee Partners in a $250 million suit against Grant Thornton, as well as Lehman Brothers Holdings in criminal and regulatory investigations following its bankruptcy in 2008.
