Royal Bank of Scotland announced on March 24 that it’s appointed Michael Shaw as its new general counsel. Shaw was most recently a deputy GC at Barclays from 2009 to 2015.
Shaw replaces John Collins, who left RBS in December to join rival Santander. Collins’ departure—just 11 months into the job—caught RBS by surprise, according to Legal Business. RBS has also recently been hit with other high-level departures, including the exit of deputy GC Rushad Abadan (now at Standard Life) and EMEA head of financial crime Carolina Garces-Monterrubio (now at HSBC), according to the U.K. legal publication.
