There was an increase in securities class actions in 2015 and smaller companies are often targeted, according to the 2015 Securities Litigation Study from PricewaterhouseCoopers.

According to the report, 195 securities class actions were filed in the U.S. federal courts in 2015, compared with 169 in 2014. The number of new cases has increased every year since 2012.
