No data is completely safe from hackers, according to panelists on a cybersecurity panel at the Association of Corporate Counsel’s midyear meeting in New York City. But attorneys still have an important role to play in preventing breaches and mitigating the fallout, the experts say.
Throughout the panel, moderator Derede McAlpin, ACC vice president and chief communications officer, pointed out key findings from the ACC’s state of cybersecurity report. The report, based on responses from about a thousand general counsels and chief legal officers, reveals that nearly a third have experienced a data breach and 56 percent indicated that their company is allocating more money to cybersecurity.
