U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul Grewal in San Jose is moving from the bench to the world’s biggest social network. As our sibling publication The Recorder reported here, Grewal will join Menlo Park, California-based Facebook as deputy general counsel of litigation in late June.
Grewal joined the bench in San Jose in 2010. His docket has included many tech cases, including Adaptix’s patent litigation campaign against several major tech and telecommunications companies. He also oversaw settlement conferences in Apple’s big-ticket patent case against Samsung and Oracle’s copyright case against Google. Grewal has also toed a tough line against certain law enforcement requests for access to personal data as part of the so-called Magistrate’s Revolt.
