The railroad operator Union Pacific Corp announced on June 7 the hiring of Rhonda Ferguson as chief legal officer and executive vice president. She steps into the new role on July 11.

Ferguson, 46, replaces Gayla Thal, who abruptly announced her departure from the company earlier this year. It was reportedly announced on Jan. 29 that Thal would be retiring two days later. She had been with Union Pacific since 2012.
