The National Federation of Independent Business announced on Monday that David Addington, former Vice President Dick Cheney’s longtime legal adviser, will join the organization as senior vice president and general counsel on July 18. Addington will provide legal advice, manage NFIB litigation’s docket and serve as corporate secretary.

NFIB bills itself as the leading advocate for small business owners. NFIB was the lead plaintiff in a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act. It has also opposed Merrick Garland’s appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court, arguing that he does not have a record of standing up for small businesses.
