There’s a new normal for general counsel: Do more with less. That’s the sentiment from general counsel and C-suite executives working at companies in Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas, according to a survey from the law firm Ashurst released earlier this month.

The survey, titled ” Riding the Winds of Change,” found that 83 percent of GC respondents said that they are facing pressure to both improve legal department efficiency and lower costs. And 56 percent said that their legal budget was slashed in the past two years. Another 24 percent said that their legal department is reducing head count. All general counsel said that their workload is increasing faster than their budgets.
