A federal judge was right to block enforcement of a multibillion-dollar environmental judgment against Chevron Corp. because it was tainted by fraud and judicial corruption in Ecuador, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ruled Monday.
The Second Circuit panel this morning upheld Judge Lewis Kaplan’s injunction against enforcement of the $9 billion damages award for plaintiffs’ in the Lago Agrio region of Ecuador.
