The legal team at Honeywell International Inc. is helping the Morris Plains, New Jersey-based manufacturing and technology company fix environmental problems rooted in its past.

Under general counsel Kate Adams, the law department, which employs 103 lawyers in the U.S., has played a big role in the cleanup of sites associated with Honeywell’s historic operations as well as those of predecessor companies. Notably, the attorneys were central in developing and implementing a massive, public-private effort to clean up Onondaga Lake in Syracuse, New York, one of America’s most polluted lakes.
