A coalition of 21 states filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Labor on Tuesday in federal court in Texas demanding the court stop the department from promulgating a rule that would expand overtime pay to more than 4 million additional workers around the country, including state employees.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce separately sued to block the overtime rule, leading a coalition of more than 50 business groups in a lawsuit that was filed in the same court, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Sherman Division.
