What’s in my beauty products? More than ever before, consumers are demanding an answer to that question. And a growing number of lawyers are helping them get answers.

Several recent news reports have exposed how little regulation there is in the cosmetics and personal care industry. Most recently, in August, The New York Times reported on consumer complaints that Wen Hair Care’s products cause rapid hair loss—and how the U.S. Food and Drug Administration lacks the authority to do much about it. Meanwhile, consumers have increasingly brought class action lawsuits against personal care companies, alleging they’ve falsely advertised their products as “organic” or “natural.”
