New York Times general counsel and executive vice president Kenneth Richieri riffed off of the hottest news topics, including the paper’s story on Donald Trump’s tax returns, in a discussion last Thursday at Yale University.

Richieri joined the Times in 1983 and steadily worked his way up the ranks of the legal department. He became the paper’s top lawyer in 2006.
