A federal district court in Eastern Texas has enjoined the part of President Barack Obama’s Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces Executive Order that would have required companies applying for government contracts to disclose new data about labor law violations.

Judge Marcia Crone of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas issued a preliminary injunction on Monday, just before the Oct. 25 implementation date of the order. Crone stated that the White House and the U.S. Department of Labor overstepped their statutory authority in issuing the regulation—nicknamed the “blacklisting rule” by its detractors.
