A digital rights advocacy and lobbying group has launched a legal challenge against new regulation governing the transfer of personal data between the United States and the European Union.

Digital Rights Ireland has filed a lawsuit calling for the annulment of the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield, which was introduced in August after the European Court of Justice rendered the previous Safe Harbor framework invalid for failing to adequately protect the privacy rights of EU residents.
