I am lucky to have had the opportunity to work in over 90 countries, and am always amazed by how advances in technology and globalization make the world seem so small. Even though I have worked in compliance at various companies for almost 20 years, I have seen that the framework for an effective compliance program remains fairly consistent.
Compliance professionals have to continue to monitor and understand the evolving regulatory landscape, but three key areas of focus do not change: development and maturation of program processes; integration of data and technology into the program, which is aligned to business strategy; and hiring and developing the right people to execute the program effectively.
