This week seems a good time to assess leadership qualities as they relate to tone at the top.

Tone at the top is a cliche in corporate compliance circles. Everyone invokes it, but it seems so self-evident that most rattle it off and move on without explanation. Many compliance professionals would consider it too remedial to take the time to explain why the tone at the top of an organization matters. But perhaps we should. Tone at the top, after all, is leadership synthesized.
