The Obama administration’s Department of Justice just went out with a bang. Federal prosecutors ended the term with a flurry of enforcement actions against corporations—several containing record penalties.

In the past month alone, prosecutors have announced nearly $26 billion in corporate settlements and penalties. In the entire fiscal year of 2016, which ended Sept. 30, DOJ collected only $15.3 billion in all actions, according to figures compiled by the Financial Times.
