There’s no getting away from it: numbers rule our professional lives. Even the legal department cannot avoid a razor-sharp focus on quantifying its operations. And as economic prospects darken, the attention devoted to measuring value is only going to increase.

Every year, ALM Legal Intelligence (ALI), a sibling organization of Corporate Counsel magazine, conducts two surveys of corporate counsel that measure value. The latest findings are based on responses from 225 corporate counsel to a compensation survey and 99 responses to a survey on performance.
