It’s the conventional wisdom among law firms that bigger is better for the firm and its clients — corporate legal departments such as ours at E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Co.
There were 50-plus law firm mergers in 2006, more than in each of the three preceding years, and it doesn’t look as if the merger mania will slow down. But that’s not a good thing, from where I sit.
