A federal judge refused Wednesday to call the star prosecution witness back to media mogul Conrad Black’s racketeering and fraud trial, where defense attorneys had hoped to show him up as a liar.

U.S. District Judge Amy J. St. Eve brushed aside claims by Black’s lawyers that they discovered new evidence that F. David Radler lied during eight days on the witness stand. She said the move came too late.
