Considering that several general counsel have resigned or been fired under suspicion of backdating in the past two years, it’s only natural to wonder whether their Bar licenses are in danger.

State Bar prosecutors aren’t allowed to confirm or deny ongoing investigations. But filing discipline charges related to backdating could go a long way toward undermining longstanding criticism that they pick on solo and small-firm practitioners while letting bigger fish go.
