When Julianne N. Belaga wanted to study art history, she chose New York University because she thought Manhattan was the best place to see paintings. When she decided to study law, she chose Emory University School of Law, in part because she thought Atlanta was the best place to launch a legal career.

That decision led her straight from law school to the Sutherland Asbill & Brennan litigation department. After six years, she was recruited to run the legal department for one of Sutherland’s clients, Optimus Solutions, which was started in 1998 by a group who left other technology companies to create their own firm.
