Faith Knight Myers grew up in East Harlem as one of three daughters of a City University of New York professor and a New York City Schools food service manager under the assumption that each would not only attend college but graduate school. The older two earned MBAs. The youngest chose law because it was both practical and flexible. What she didn’t plan on was Atlanta.
Washington was the plan. After graduating from Dartmouth College and Tulane Law School, Myers planned to return to Washington. She had worked for a pension management company between attending undergraduate and law school. She had met her future husband there. She had also clerked for a law firm there one summer. She decided to apply for a second summer clerkship in Atlanta just for fun. That choice — Alston & Bird — changed her mind about the rest of the plan. After law school, she moved to Atlanta to become a first-year associate at Alston and has remained in Atlanta for the past 11 years.
