Jasmin Oyola v. Piolin Jr. LLC & Miguel Franco Jr.: A woman who was seriously injured in a car accident has been awarded nearly $200,000 by a Hartford jury after suing the bar she claims served alcohol to her noticeably intoxicated friend.

On March 16, 2012 Shandeline Gutierrez went to a liquor store and bought a bottle of vodka before picking up her friend, Jasmin Oyola. According to Oyola’s lawyer, J. Xavier Pryor of Hartford, the women, both in their mid-20s, next went to an East Hartford bar, Piolin Jr. The bar opened at 10 p.m. and they arrived a half-hour early, so they sat in the car and drank three or four vodka shots each before eventually going in the bar.
