Stamford Personal Injury Firm Sues Ganim Brothers Over Fee Dispute
A Stamford law firm is suing two lawyers from Bridgeport's Ganim family, claiming it deserves a bigger share of the $2.55 million in attorney fees from personal injury litigation that ultimately settled for $10.65 million.

A Stamford law firm is suing two lawyers from Bridgeport's Ganim family, claiming it deserves a bigger share of the $2.55 million in attorney fees from personal injury litigation that ultimately settled for $10.65 million.
Attorneys Stewart Casper and Victoria de Toledo say they largely took over a personal injury lawsuit from the Ganim brothers and ultimately reached the eight-figure settlement. Nevertheless, according to the partners in Casper & de Toledo, the Ganims continue to assert that they should receive 75 percent of the attorney fees in the case. But Casper and de Toledo claim their firm's significant involvement in trial preparation, the trial itself and subsequent settlement negotiations should entitle them to more than 25 percent of the legal fees.
The lawsuit names as defendants Paul and Thomas Ganim, both brothers of Bridgeport's mayor-elect, Joseph Ganim. According to state Judicial Branch records, the Ganims have separate practices, with Paul Ganim's known as Ganim Legal LLC and Thomas Ganim being a partner in Ganim, Ganim & Ganim. Paul Ganim is also Bridgeport's elected probate judge.
