Beleaguered air bag maker Takata Corp. and Toyota face another lawsuit linked to a defective air bag, this time in Connecticut, where a woman was allegedly killed when the faulty device “exploded” in an accident.
The lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut claims Carol J. McKeehan was killed Jan. 13 in New London County after a Takata air bag deployed and “exploded violently and with overly aggressive force.” McKeehan was the passenger in a 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by her husband, Frederick McKeehan. He suffered minor injuries when his air bag deployed in what was called a “moderate speed crash.”
The lawsuit was filed by McKeehan's estate.
