A Waterbury couple and a friend rear-ended in February 2014 by a drunk driver have settled the case for $195,000.

Robert Card had stopped his Hyundai sedan at a red light in Waterbury when it was struck by a pickup truck driven by 29-year-old Justin Lebel, according to the 2016 lawsuit filed in Waterbury Superior Court.

Lebel consumed five beers and four shots before the crash, and had a blood alcohol content of 0.24 percent, according to police reports. The legal limit in Connecticut is .08 percent.
