Connecticut joined five other states Wednesday in filing a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Justice and and U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, for allegedly trying to “coerce” states to agree to immigration-related issues by unlawfully linking them to federal law enforcement grants.

The 212-page lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York states that complying with the immigration-related conditions “have nothing to do with the program’s purpose.”
