Lawyer Chelsea Sousa Joins Murtha Cullina

Murtha Cullina has hired Chelsea R. Sousa as an associate in the firm's litigation department.

A former Superior Court law clerk in the Office of Legal Research, Sousa joins Murtha's bankruptcy and creditors' rights practice group, representing clients in collections, foreclosures, evictions and commercial and landlord-tenant matters. She has also joined the practice groups covering community banking and retail, restaurants and hospitality.

In addition to her Superior Court work, Sousa interned for the Connecticut State Attorney's Office for Middlesex County and for Judge Alfred V. Covello in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut. She also provided clerical support for asylum and immigration matters at Kalon Law in Hartford.

Sousa received her bachelor's degree from Southern Connecticut State University and her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law. At UConn Law, she was the articles editor for the Connecticut Law Review.

Attorney Felicia Hunt Joins Hassett & George

Hassett & George has announced the hire of attorney Felicia Hunt, a divorce and family lawyer with extensive trial experience, including international child custody and kidnapping cases.

Hunt is a 2016 Connecticut Law Tribune New Leader in the Law. Primarily a litigator, she is described as "a practical and accomplished negotiator, often reaching agreements outside of court" in prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.

Hunt graduated cum laude from Providence College with a bachelor's degree in philosophy, with minors in both Spanish and theology. She earned her J.D. at UConn Law.

Quinnipiac Law Hosting Open House

An open house will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Quinnipiac University School of Law Center, 370 Bassett Road, North Haven.

Prospective law students will be able to tour the center and hear about areas of study including civil advocacy and dispute resolution, criminal law and advocacy, family, health, intellectual property and international law, among others, including many joint degrees.

"The open house is a terrific opportunity for individuals who think they might want to apply to law school to learn more about what Quinnipiac Law has to offer," said Interim Dean Brad Saxton, inviting prospective students to get "a very good sense of the strong and welcoming community here, which is one of our most treasured assets."
