Drinker Biddle & Reath has announced that Adam Masin has joined the firm's Hartford office as a partner in the products liability and mass torts group.

Masin joins the firm following four years as a partner at Hartford's Shipman & Goodwin. Before that, he spent 10 years as a partner in the life sciences health industry group at Reed Smith in New York City.

For more than two decades, Masin has managed and litigated dozens of pharmaceutical and medical device product liability cases for leading pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers and health care institutions.

Masin counsels clients on products liability, medical negligence and commercial litigation disputes and advises companies on Food and Drug Administration issues, product risk management and investigations. He is also experienced in multidistrict litigation, consolidated state actions and complex medical issues.

"Adam is a strong addition to our national products liability and mass torts practice," said Andrew C. Kassner, Drinker Biddle's chairman and CEO. "His significant industry experience will be an asset to our pharmaceutical, medical device and health care clients, and we are excited to welcome him in Hartford."

Masin has regularly handled lawsuits involving drugs, medical devices, nutritional supplements, probiotics and an array of specialized medical services. He also serves on the board of directors of the NEC Society, the leading nonprofit dedicated to the neonatal disease necrotizing enterocolitis.

Daniel B. Carroll and Michael C. Zogby, co-chairmen of Drinker Biddle's products liability and mass torts practice, said in a joint statement, "Adam has distinguished himself with his dedication to client service and success in helping clients navigate complex product liability and health care litigation throughout the United States. He is a great fit for our team, and his robust experience adds to the firm's growing product liability trial capabilities."

Masin earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his law degree from Fordham University School of Law.
