Connecticut attorney Norm Pattis said Wednesday he's had several book and movie offers to tell the story of his former client, murder suspect Fotis Dulos.

Pattis, lead attorney for Dulos, said he will still proceed with efforts to get a trial, despite Dulos' death, and despite acknowledging there's only a slim chance of success. And then, if those avenues do not pan out, the New Haven-based attorney said he will consider other options for telling Dulos' story.

"I have been approached about movie rights and book offers around the case," he said. "There have been several offers, but I'm not counting."

When asked what he'd say to critics who saw his legal strategy as a publicity stunt, Pattis had no comment.

Pattis said Wednesday he hadn't dismissed the idea of taking up some of the offers, but that such deals were still "a long way off."

"Mr. Dulos' story will be told," he said. "This is not over by any means."

Dulos was charged with murder, felony murder and kidnapping in connection with the disappearance of his wife, Jennifer Dulos. He died by suicide Jan. 30. His wife has not been found, but is presumed dead based on blood evidence found in her garage, media reports say, citing the police warrant.

'Dark Humor and Hard Work'

On Tuesday, Pattis' effort to press ahead with the criminal case without his client was dealt a major—but not unexpected—blow.

Superior Court Judge Gary White agreed to Chief State's Attorney Richard Colangelo Jr.'s request for the charges against Fotis Dulos to be nolled. Under the rules of the nolle, the state has 13 months to refile the charges, or they will be dismissed.

Pattis, who said he wants to try the case in court, said he plans on asking Probate Court to appeal the nolle. Earlier, Pattis filed a request to have his client's estate stand trial to clear Dulos' name.

Pattis has said he plans on petitioning the U.S. Supreme Court to remove a gag order preventing all parties, including attorneys, witnesses and police, from publicly speaking about the specifics of the case.

Pattis said he expects to lose on both fronts.

"I'm not optimistic," the attorney said. "We've gotten through this by dark humor and hard work."

Dulos told reporters at a press conference Tuesday that he knew of a third party, who was allegedly responsible for the disappearance of Jennifer Dulos, the mother of Fotis Dulos' five children.

On Wednesday, Pattis declined to elaborate on the identity of the other alleged suspect.

"The case against Mr. Dulos has ended," said Pattis, who said that providing that information would not be fair to other defendants implicated in Jennifer Dulos' disappearance. "The case is still pending against the two other suspects."

The defendants are former attorney Kent Mawhinney, a friend of Fotis Dulos, and Michelle Troconis, who was Fotis Dulos' girlfriend. They have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

Prosecutors did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday.
